Vivo Y16 is a slim and lightweight handset. It weighs 184g and measures 164 x 75.6 x 8.2 mm. Its ergonomic design and aesthetics make it attractive for the optics and worth experiencing. The lightweight could perhaps be explained by the materials used to make the handset: Glass front, plastic back, and plastic frame. Vivo Y16 comes in 2 color variants: Drizzling Gold, and Stellar Black
The 720 x 1600 pixels resolution on the Vivo Y16 does not give the best user experience when it comes to gaming and browsing through media content online or in the phone gallery. The 6.51-inch IPS LCD is basic, but it functional considering this is a budget handset.
A 5MP selfie camera and 13MP + 2MP main camera are quite basic and would not give the user the best experiences in the present day where great snaps and videos define the phone one owns and uses.
It runs on Android 12 and is complemented by Vivo’s Funtouch 12 UI. Powering the handset is an Octa-core, Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 (12nm) processor and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. For basic functions such as light internet browsing, calls, chatting and other simple tasks, the Vivo phone will seamlessly execute them. Enabling optimal performance of the Vivo Y16 is 32GB 3GB RAM, 64GB 4GB RAM, and 128GB 4GB RAM inbuilt memory, supported by microSDXC (dedicated slot).
Accelerometer, proximity, and compass are the only sensors on the Vivo Y16. Too bad the handset has no fingerprint scanner, which helps limit unauthorized access to the handset by non-users.
Powering the handset is a 5,000mAh battery, charged by a 10W fast charger.
As a budget phone, it is worth having but a little overpriced considering the competition and better specifications readily available from competing brands.
