The Nokia brand has regained its lost fame and glory with its brand-new feature and android phones that have wowed audiences around the world. Among the products that have gotten massive attention is the mid- range Nokia 7.2. In a nutshell, it is a phone that emphatically proves that Nokia phones can still feature sleek design and maintain their reputation for durability. It is engaged in a stiff competition with other stellar mid- range offerings such as Xiami Redmi Note 8 Pro, Samsung Galaxy A50s and the Google Pixel 3a. Be sure to check out our products and the exciting price offerings by browsing through the categories at the top of the website. For this review, we will look at the top 5 exciting things about the Nokia 7.2.
First, the aesthetic appeal of this phone sets it apart from the competition in its class. It is a work of art; beauty demystified; a bundle of elegance and style... It is all that and more. HMD Global, the company that acquired Nokia, really means business, that I can tell you for sure. You may have noticed it in the banner above this article, but let me break it down further for you. The Nokia 7.2 gets you an Always on HDR10 LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels (400ppi) spread across a fabulous 6.3 inches. It is all gorilla glass on the front and back of this phone with a polymer composite frame which gives it an overall premium feel. As if all this wasn’t enough, Nokia added a notification LED on the power button on the side of the phone that glows white to remind you of unread messages, missed calls and such.
Second, the cameras at the back are contained in a circular bump at the back, right above the smaller but also circular fingerprint sensor. The cameras include a 48MP wide angle shooter, an 8MP ultra- wide-angle lens and the 5MP depth sensor. These back- facing shooters will delivery decent photography, even in low- light conditions with plenty of details that will leave you impressed. Round the front, is the 20MP selfies camera which is also capable of taking 1080p video... though we might well ask, who uses the selfie camera to take video anymore?
There is plenty of room for entertainment on this device which comes with either 64GB or 128GB storage space. Display is wide enough for playing games and watching content with good clarity. You can also fit in micro SD card to increase the storage space of your content even further. You will also not need to worry about your two SIM cards since there are dedicated Slots for both. There is a bottom firing loudspeaker which churns out good quality audio. In case you want to enhance them though, you can do so using 3.5mm headphones which can be plugged in above the phone, and which will also act as the antennae for your FM radio.
Fourthly, Nokia 7.2 runs stock android 9.0 (Pie) operating system which makes it easy to get security updates from Google as soon as they are out. This means that you will also benefit from a clean interface that is also smooth to operate. Ultimately, you will also benefit from the Android 10.0 update once it rolls out.
Nonetheless, even with the android one experience it comes with, you are sure to enjoy breezing through your apps courtesy of the Qualcomm SDM660 Snapdragon 660 processor and the equally powerful 4GB/ 6GB RAM combination depending on the type you pick. There is also a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side to ensure you are able to go about your day with some style. For those still not familiar, Google Assistant is Google's voice assistant that helps with scheduling your meetings and travel plans, takes your dictated notes, keeps record of what you like and what information may be of interest to you fusing these personalized elements with a wide-range of voice controls. Basically, it adds a conversational touch to how you interact with your phone. Previously, you would wake the assistant by saying the words "OK Google" or "Hey, Google" but with the dedicated button, you only tap once and you are good to go.
One of the main drawbacks of this smartphone is its 3, 500mAh battery which also comes with a standard 10W charger. What this means is that it will only give you barely a day’s use when you are extremely cautious of the activity you are engaged in. This means if you are on a long journey, you my want to cut back on the gaming or high-resolution video streaming which will cut down the charge pretty fast. Other smartphones in the mid- range category will feature longer battery life, for instance the Galaxy A50.
